Argos Weapons Cabinet Takes Home Gold in NTOA Review

Posted July 14, 2016 | by webtech

The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the law enforcement community through credible and proven training resources. It also provides a forum to exchange information and develop tactics. With over 40,000 members spanning various specialties from patrol to command, canine, behavioral sciences and more, the NTOA is truly a resource for any law enforcement personnel.

In addition to conferences, training courses, information, and support, the NTOA also runs the most comprehensive product review database in law enforcement. The NTOA Member Tested and Recommended Program (MTRP) tests submitted products in real world situations and provides trusted, valuable feedback on their performance. Since 2003, NTOA members have tested more than 2,000 products.

In order to submit a product for testing, manufacturers must pay a testing fee and provide 2-4 samples of the product to the National Tactical Officers Association. From there, NTOA members thoroughly test the product and provide a score in 13 possible categories:

  • Design
  • Performance
  • Ease of Use
  • Size
  • Quality
  • Durability
  • Storage
  • Versatility
  • Convenience
  • Application for Law Enforcement
  • Comfort
  • Cleaning/Maintenance
  • Accuracy

The scale runs from 0-5 with 0-1 being “poor” and 5 being “excellent.” “Excellent” is defined by the NTOA Member Tested and Recommended Program as, “a product that performs at a level above advertised specifications and demonstrates its usefulness and quality of workmanship every time it is used and can be used for other purposes.” After a score is recorded for each applicable category, points are averaged across all categories tested to provide a final score at the end.

In 2015, the Argos team submitted the Argos Weapons Cabinet for review and received a perfect score! The Argos Weapons Cabinet was applicable to 11 of the 13 categories and received a 5 in every test on:

  • Design
  • Performance
  • Ease of Use
  • Size
  • Quality
  • Durability
  • Storage
  • Versatility
  • Convenience
  • Application
  • Cleaning & Maintenance

It is now officially “NTOA Member Tested and Recommended” and was awarded the gold NTOA MTRP logo which is reserved only for products that receive a perfect score. As of the time of testing, the Argos Weapons Cabinet was only the 2nd product tested that year to receive a perfect score.
